WASHINGTON, DC (May 4, 2020) – Feed the Fight announced this week a $5,000 donation from Breakthru Beverage Group, a leading North American beverage wholesaler, to help support restaurants, health care workers and first responders across the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland (DMV). Breakthru’s contribution will be used to help further Feed the Fight’s mission of having a positive impact on the Washington, D.C. metro area by driving business to local restaurants working to stay operational and thanking health care workers and first responders fighting on the frontlines of the COVID-19 “coronavirus” pandemic.

“We are pleased to partner with Breakthru Beverage Group in our efforts to support the Washington, D.C. region during the COVID-19 crisis. Their generous donation will go a long way in helping increase the number of meals purchased from local restaurants struggling during this time and showing appreciation for the tireless work of the fire fighters, police officers, health care workers, hospital staff and EMS personnel who put themselves on the frontlines day in and day out to protect the Capitol region,” said Elena Tompkins, founder of Feed the Fight.

“These are unprecedented times and we are humbled by the incredible sacrifices our frontline health care workers and first responders are making,” said Jeff Scarry, Breakthru Beverage Group Executive Vice President, Maryland and Washington D.C. “By partnering with Feed the Fight, we’re honored to be able to support the local heroes keeping our communities safe while at the same time, support local restaurants who continue to struggle in the wake of this pandemic.”

Feed the Fight, established in March 2020, is a community effort working alongside local restaurants to provide takeout meals to feed health care workers and first responders across the DMV area. With the help of our local restaurant partners, Feed the Fight has purchased more than 27,500 meals and counting for health care workers and first responders on the frontlines of this global health care crisis.
