WASHINGTON, DC (April 5, 2020) – Today, Feed the Fight announced their community-based program will now support Washington, D.C. metro area first responders in addition to health care workers. The expansion of the program is in recognition of the tireless service firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel provide. By working on the frontlines, first responders ensure communities across the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland (DMV) area have access to essential services and resources in the midst of the COVID-19 “coronavirus” pandemic.

“Members throughout the community have been overwhelmed by the tireless work of our first responders during the COVID-19 crisis and we are pleased to have an opportunity to show our gratitude and offer encouragement,” said Elena Tompkins, founder of Feed the Fight. “We want firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other essential health care workers throughout the DMV area to know they have our full support and that we recognize their tremendous contributions to protect and strengthen our community.”

Feed the Fight, established as a community-based effort in March 2020, works alongside local restaurants to provide takeout meals to feed first responders and health care workers in facilities across the DMV area. Through generous donations and by partnering with local restaurants, Feed the Fight has purchased more than 6,000 meals for health care workers, police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel on the frontlines of this global health care crisis.
